The wonders of Pakistan seen through the Google Cultural Institute

Have you ever used Google’s most awesome initiative, the Google Cultural Institute? If not, you HAVE to check it out!

The Institute is a super cool and modern way to explore new countries and all that they have to offer in terms of history and culture – all done through interactive slideshows, pictures, 360 degree imagery and maps. Plus, guess what their latest addition is? The Wonders of Pakistan!

The Google Cultural Institute was launched in 2011, and with the help of historical and cultural institutions and movements around the world, today displays many of the world’s most famous cultural heritage sites. The website is broken down into three sections – “World Wonders,” the “Art Project,” and “Historic Moments,” and some of the displayed highlights include the Giza Necropolis, the Great Barrier Reef and São Paulo street art.

My personal favorite, of course, is the Wonders of Pakistan!

Among many other wonders, we get to explore the beauty of the Shalimar Gardens in Lahore, the historical wonder of the Darawar Fort, and the calm of Hiran Minar Park in Sheikhupura.

The pictures of the sites are absolutely stunning, and the historical descriptions are short but very informative. And for those who are not very familiar with the geographic details of Pakistan, the interactive map is super useful!

As said by the Google Cultural Institute: “From ancient monuments to contemporary art, be inspired by the wonders of this incredible country.”

Yes, yes, yes! Thank you Google for this incredible insight into the forgotten beauty of Pakistan!
