UAE contributions to UN Women

The UAE on Wednesday announced a package of contributions and initiatives to UN Women, the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, during the annual pledging event held as part of the annual session of the entity at the United Nations headquarters in New York from 17-19 June.

The contributions include a five million dollar donation to the core budget of UN Women for the period 2014-2016, funding the opening of a regional office for UN Women in Abu Dhabi, appointing a senior adviser from the UAE to work at the headquarters in New York and supporting the efforts of UN women in preparation for the 2015 global review of women, peace and security.
