German TV production company Bantry Bay has secured German-language remake rights to hit Turkish female empowerment skein “Fatmagul” in the latest signal of Turkish TV’s growing global reach.
Produced locally by Turkish production powerhouse Ay Yapim, “Fatmagul” is based on a novel by prominent local scribe and political activist Vedat Turkali. It turns on its titular young woman protag who is raped one night by three men, which shatters her life. Her fiancee dumps her, and she is forced to marry a man who witnessed her rape. Fatmagul vows to fight and embarks on an intricate quest for justice.
