If you had any doubt in your mind about how global the startup world has become or the potential it has, consider the story of Flip Technologies, the accelerator that nurtured it, and the World Bank.
Flip Technologies is a skateboarding hardware company, which has a trick-tracking product called RideBlock that allows skateboarders to analyze their moves. From Kochi, India, the founders applied and were accepted to accelerator Flat6Labs‘ location in Abu Dhabi. Flat6Labs and its affiliated VC funds have an IRR of more than 25%, based on the values of outside follow-on rounds, said the founder of the accelerator, Ahmed El Alfi.
