Saudi mall boss is first Arab on global retail council

A Saudi retail boss has become the first Arab to be appointed to the International Council for Shopping Centres (ICSC), it has been announced.

The non-profit organisation that is responsible for shopping centres globally that encompasses 70,000 members, said Mohammad Alawi, the CEO of the Red Sea Markets Company Limited has been added to its ranks.

The decision to appoint Alawi was based on a recommendation from the Middle East Council of Shopping Centres, based on his experience in the region over the last 15 years, a statement said.

He is the first Arab business figure to become a member of the council since it was established more than 57 years ago, the statement added.
