Double Olympic champion and current IAAF chairman Seb Coe has said the prospect of the Olympic Games coming to the Middle East was “not unthinkable”.
Coe has, on numerous occasions, lauded the idea of a Summer Games being held in the region, suggesting that the hot climate during the summer months shouldn’t be a barrier if the dates could be moved.
Speaking to Arabian Business, in his role as chairman of CSM, the sports CSM, the sports division of Chime Communications, Coe said the only barrier to a country from the region submitting a bid is the amount of work involved once the Games are awarded.
“It’s certainly not unthinkable. The only caution that I always give is that having been through that process, this is hard. This is not something you undertake lightly and it’s not just simply about the delivery of the facilities on time,” Coe said.
