Five artists from four cities across the country are showcasing their paintings themed on a number of issues, including that of the ‘misuse of Nehru caps’ by politicians.

“The caps, popularly known as Nehru caps, are being misused by today’s politicians. They quote Mahatama Gandhi’s ideals but for all the wrong purposes,” says Delhi-based artist Sanjay Sabran Tiwari, who has teamed up with four other artists to put up an art exhibition titled, Rainbow.

The exhibit looks at other aspects of society like water conservation, and the turmoil in society with atrocities towards women being the major theme in the show, which is being held at the Pyarelal Bhawan.

“My paintings have tried to portray problems of women,” says Tiwari. In one of his paintings he has depicted images of a woman with a sword to depict what he calls “the resistance towards the cruel behaviour against them.”
