Meet the Middle Eastern entrepreneurs shortlisted for Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards 2015

Cartier has announced this year’s finalists of its annual Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards, an annual international business plan competition for women entrepreneurs, in partnership with the Women’s Forum, INSEAD Business School and McKinsey & Company.

The 20 innovators, running 18 businesses, were selected from more than 1700 applications from over 100 countries and will be coached by professionals from Cartier, INSEAD and McKinsey & Company to prepare for the next round of the competition to be held in October.

Every year, six laureates receive US $20,000, coaching and support for a full year, access to international networks and media visibility and an exclusive trophy designed by Cartier. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Deauville, France on October 15. The ceremony will be held in conjunction with the Annual Global Meeting of the Women’s Forum for the Economy and Society.

This year’s finalists “distinguished themselves by the impact they are making in bringing people together, developing a more connected science, redesigning our food supply and creating from natural resources,” according to a press release.

This year there are three finalists from the Middle East:

Mouna Abbassy

The Morocco-born, UAE-based Mouna Abbassy’s company, Izil Beauty, produces natural cosmetics inspired by traditional beauty recipes by the Moroccan Amazigh women using Argan oil, Ghassoul clay and other rare natural ingredients imported from Morocco.

Sarah Hawilo

Sarah Hawilo

Sarah Hawilo from Lebanon is the entrepreneur behind the app SerVme, a real time data analytics software that allows restaurants, bars, and clubs to collect and analyze data about their diners in order to deliver better service which in turn enhances their operations.

Eman Hylooz

Eman Hylooz

Jordanian entrepreneur Eman Hylooz runs Abjjad, an online and mobile network for readers, authors and publishers of Arabic literature.
