Kuwait yesterday underscored strong support for an international protection of Palestinians who were subjected to systematic Israeli bombardment in Gaza Strip, and announced a $10 million donation for the Palestinian people.

“We strongly support provision of an international protection of the brotherly Palestinian people,” First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah said in a speech before an urgent meeting of Arab Foreign Ministers to discuss the Israeli aggression on Gaza.

Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, addressing the meeting, also announced a $10 million donation to help the Palestinian people. The Foreign Ministers’ meeting was held at the request of Kuwait which chairs the Arab Summit. Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled also called on the importance of Israel’s compliance with international resolutions and international law.

He warned against the dangerous developments in Gaza, and affirmed Kuwait’s firm “moral, political and financial” support of the Palestinian people. Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled said the USD 10 million donation would be directed to the health sector. He reaffirmed that Kuwait would continue its support of the Palestinians until the end of the Israeli occupation and the establishment of the independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
