Kuwait: Bringin’ the Female Force

The State of Kuwait recently launched a fully armed and dangerous female platoon of police officers on the Kuwaiti public. Clad with spiffy uniforms, berets and side arms that would make even CSI Miami’s Horatio Caine smile with pride, the sixty-strong female police squad is taking no prisoners… er unless they have to.

The female cops go where no man dares to go such as ladies only beaches and clubs. Their duties also include airport security, mall patrol and security details for female dignitaries who visit Kuwait. Word has it that some of the female police will even supplement the already beefy security around U.S. Ambassador to Kuwait, Deborah Jones.

Unlike other more forward thinking Middle Eastern countries, like Bahrain or Oman, a female Kuwaiti cop has never walked the “beat” in Kuwait until now. The mastermind behind the idea is none other than Major General Mostafa al Zaabi, or the Ministry of Interior’s Assistant Undersecretary for Operation Affairs… MIAUO for short.

Now according to MIAUO, he had a very good reason for installing a female group of officers in the 99.9% all-male police force, “We want people to understand, we are following other countries by putting our ladies in different jobs. They only used to do office jobs, but now we are putting them in the field to face different situations such as domestic disputes, because security is not limited to men. They are doing an excellent job.”

Not everyone in Kuwait has shown the female cops the respect that a typical male cop in uniform, who might just might have an itchy trigger finger, commands. In fact, when the female cops were spotted for the first time at a local mall, a handful of male youths laughed and openly mocked them. However, it was MIAUO who would have the last laugh as all of the “hooligans,” were dragged off to jail to have their heads shaved bald. Brraahhahaaaa! Kuwait’s female cops no doubt have their hands full, but they must feel a bit better that they’ve got back up in the form of an electric razor.
