The inauguration of the 11th edition of JABAL Exhibition, Jeunes Artistes des Beaux-Arts du Liban, organized by Fransabank, was held on May 13th, at the Saint-George Hotel under the patronage and in the presence of Mrs. Lama Tammam Salam, and H.E Mr. Adnan Kassar, Chairman of Fransabank Group. Mrs. Nora Joumblat was among the 1.500 invitees who attended the private viewing, along with a large number of various social figures, businessmen, art collectors, art gallery owners, as well as the organizing committee of JABAL, the artists, and the media.
Under the theme “Visionary Artists where myths and dreams are all about Lebanon,” 32 artists were rigorously selected to unveil their projects, some of which were especially made for this occasion, presenting a sensitive and eclectic overview of modern day art. They created their own shapes, images, objects, and concepts, through their drawings, paintings, photography, installations, sculptures, videos, and performances, and which illustrate their confidence in the future and a vision which reflects the expectations of these young artists who have a keen mind and a critical sense towards contemporary society.
“It is our responsibility to maintain the legacy of art, by addressing and resolving how civil societies and successful companies can support artists who cannot – on their own – exhibit and share their creations,” said Mrs. Lama Tammam Salam.
In his turn, H.E. Mr. Adnan Kassar declared, “We have always believed in the potential of our youth and we have always had the will to keep them in their homeland and country so they can extract from its roots and, in return, breathe into it their dynamism and strength. Through JABAL exhibitions, Fransabank has a strategic mission to offer new horizons to emerging artists from all the Lebanese regions and pave their paths towards maximizing their potentials.”
According to Mrs. Dania Kassar, Fransabank’s Head of Marketing and Corporate Communication Department, “Since 1998, JABAL, an exhibition created by Fransabank, is an initiative through which new talents are discovered. It has been a springboard to international recognition for many young artists exhibiting for the first time or for those still unknown in the art world. After more than 10 editions, JABAL is a living proof that there is no commitment without sincere engagement, no freedom without generosity: all of which are key ingredients to this enlightened patronage which our organization is extremely proud of.”
It’s worth noting that JABAL is an exhibition which focuses on the future and it plants in the youths’ talent hope and confidence, which are essential for them to exist and develop their inspiration. The exhibition continues until Saturday May 16 from 4pm till 9pm at Saint-Georges Hotel.
