A UNIQUE APPROACH

In a little over three years, Emirates Diaries has grown into one of the most anticipated quarterly-published Emirati magazines.

Written, photographed and edited by Emiratis, the magazine serves as a lifestyle platform for talented and ambitious UAE Nationals, whether they are writers, travelers, cooks, designers, artists or sport enthusiasts.

This approach sets Emirates Diaries apart from other publications in the UAE.

“Four years ago, we started the magazine to give Emiratis a voice in the community, and eventually be part of the driving force behind Emirates Diaries,” said Mohammed Al Banna, who founded the magazine along with Maryam Al Mansoori.

TEAMWORK IN ACTION

The editorial team, composed of diligent young Emiratis, aims to shed light on local talent and businesses by uncovering the untold stories of ordinary members of the community. They meet every Saturday morning for a brainstorming session.

Eman Al Hammadi, from the Arabic editorial team, says: “Yes we do bicker, but it’s a friendly kind of bicker, the healthy kind that leads to brilliant ideas!”

Having settled on a theme for each issue, the team then sends out writing guidelines to their audience via Twitter and Instagram and invites contributions from the community.

The latest edition, published under the title of “My Dubai”, captures the spirit of the vibrant city beautifully – from its people, to its enterprises and hidden alleyways.
