In a bid to create a generation of Emirati innovators in construction, a first-of-its-kind laboratory to test and research environmentally friendly materials for future Abu Dhabi projects will be open by the end of the year.
To ensure quality and longevity in construction projects, applications not previously used in pipes specifically will be developed in the Borouge Innovation Centre.
“Metal pipes previously used usually result in corrosion, rust and a high percentage of leakage. These waste both financial and energy resources. This is why we are developing plastic polymers and are working with the Petroleum Institute to infuse polymer science within their courses,” said Hazeem Sultan Al Suwaidi, senior vice-president of the Middle East and North Africa at Borouge who was speaking to Gulf News on the sidelines of the sixth International Conference Geosynthetics Middle East.
