Three Iranian women on the Wushu national team won gold medals at the world championship in Malaysia.
Elaheh Mansourian defeated her Korean opponent in the final round and won her first ever international gold medal. She was severely injured in the first round; however, she fought back to win the title for Iran. In the semifinals, Mansourian defeated her Philipino opponent 2-0. She knocked out her Belgian opponent in the quarterfinals.
