Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) announced the appointment of Dyala Nusseibeh as Fair Director of Abu Dhabi Art, ahead of the 2016 edition of the event later this month.
Talking about the importance of the appointment, HE Saif Saeed Ghobash, Director General of TCA Abu Dhabi said: “Abu Dhabi Art is one of the cornerstones of the emirate’s growing cultural calendar, weaving in our rich national perspective into the ongoing global cultural conversation. Dyala is well connected to her peers in the art world and the UAE community so her forthcoming leadership is an important moment for the project.”
Nusseibeh, a graduate in Social Anthropology from the University of Cambridge, has also completed a master’s degree with distinction in Contemporary Art from Glasgow University. She started her career at Rawaj International in the UAE and has held senior positions in art institutions in the UK and Turkey over the course of her decade-long career. As part of the senior management at the Saatchi Gallery, London, one of the most influential art galleries operating in the UK today, she was responsible for the Education Program, facilitating art education and championing young talent. Her keen eye for groundbreaking works underpinned the selections for student artists at the Gallery and her passion for making art accessible saw her initiate and organize a satellite exhibition of Gallery works in Ipswich.

Nusseibeh masterminded and led ArtInternational Istanbul from 2012 to 2016, cultivating her expertise in building concepts that reflect regional relevance whilst embracing an international outlook. During the course of four years, she established it as a leading platform for art collectors to access high-quality art from diverse markets such as Helsinki, Hong Kong, Jeddah, Tehran and San Francisco and grew the fair significantly year on year.
The eighth edition of Abu Dhabi Art scheduled to run from November 16-19, 2016, at Manarat Al Saadiyat, offers the UAE capital’s residents and visitors a rich programme of innovative exhibitions, talks and performances. It offers a multi-disciplinary experience combining an art fair with a diverse arts programme. The art fair presents new and established galleries from around the world showcasing artworks for sale, and the Abu Dhabi Art programme features a dynamic interdisciplinary set of curatorial events for all audiences to enjoy. In her prestigious, new role, Nusseibeh will be steering the organisation of the 2017 edition.
