Dubai diners offered chance to eat with actors still in character

EAT DubaiDubai diners are being offered the chance to share a meal with actors appearing in character, and to join in on an improvised conversation.

The new eating concept is being launched by London-based theatre company Angry Bairds (AB). Its theatrical dining experience, “EAT Dubai,” will take place starting January 14 – 22 at Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding in Bur Dubai.

The diners will sit down for a traditional Emirati sharing meal with five actors, during which they will be treated to an hour-long play depicting cultural stereotypes.

The adapted play will consist of five different characters who, throughout the dinner courses, will reveal much more about themselves than they had first intended to.

The thought-provoking concept was developed by AB founders Nazish Khan and Sophie Foster. The Dubai shows have also been created by a local team including Emirati director Thabit Al Mawaly, writer Farheen Khan, and director and choreographer Nina Hein.
