5 Free Apps to Boost Your Ramadan Spirit

Happy Ramadan! To help you start off the Holy Month the right way, we have compiled a selection of helpful phone applications with time calculators for prayers, Halal restaurants, stories for children and more!

Muslim Pro – Ramadan 2014: Available for Iphone, Ipad, and Android systems, this popular app offers not only an accurate time calculator for prayers based on your location, but also Halal restaurants and mosques locations around you, an animated qibla compass to show you the direction to Mecca, a Muslim Hijri calendar, and full translations of the Quran in several languages.
Ramadan Race: Though not massively downloaded, we found this app an ingenious take on motivating young Muslims to formulate their own goals. Available for Android, the app was created in 2012 following an even held in Sydney to inspire Australian Muslims to take actions for Ramadan. Some of its highlights are motivational videos, a list of links to Islamic humanitarian aids and funds to donate Zakat, and minute Energisers (heavily rewarded duas that one could utilize when having a few minutes).
Ramadan Mubarak Happy Ramadan! is our application of choice for the little ones. Through fun stories told with a rhymic melody, children get immersed in the Muslim month of fasting. Developed by Suzanne Muir and Available for iOS, it presents animated features, cool sound effects, and a special Eid game.
