Curated by Panos Malamis, the admission-free show will open on April 10 at the Sismanoglio Megaro building of the Greek Consulate General in İstanbul’s Beyoğlu district, the organizers announced in a press release this week.
Set to run until May 4, this will be the second time the show has visited Turkey, following the launch of its sixth edition in İstanbul in March 2013. Last year’s İstanbul show was also the first occasion the exhibition had opened in any city other than its hometown of Athens.
The title of the show, which means to provide a roof or protection in ancient Attic Greek, refers to the fact that the exhibition brings together artists from different countries. The show features five artists from Turkey, one from Spain, one from Italy, seven from Greece and one from Germany. The Turkish artists in the show are Beyza Boynudelik, Hakan Bayer, Leyla Ersin, Pet 05 and Zone.
“Once a seed is in harmony with the earth, it will blossom. And I try to provide the earth for seeds to blossom where seeds blossom,” Malamis says, highlighting the significance of promoting these young artists.
