First Afghan Guide To Fruit Cultivation Expected to Spur Growth

Afghan agricultural experts in cooperation with the European Union (EU) have published the first Fruit Trees Guide, a book intended to help fruit tree farmers in Afghanistan improve their productivity.

The Afghan Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation said that the guide would help Afghan farmers improve their efficiency and ultimately make their work more profitable.

The guide contains detailed information about 900 different kinds fruit-bearing trees, including several kinds of Afghani almonds, which the country is well known for around the world.

Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Mohammad Asef Rahimi said he believed the guide would have a noticeable impact on fruit exports, which comprise a major part of the Afghan economy.
